SIMPLON Pavo 3 Ultra

SIMPLON Pavo 3 Ultra

SIMPLON has been trading for almost 60 years in Austria, Germany and Switzerland and only very recently the brand has set up in the UK. I had always wanted to ride something that was different, but also had to be very light as I’ve never had a bike that weighed as little as 6.3kg.

The stealth was the only colour option for this model but paint would make it heavier and I wanted something subtle and I loved the dark grey branding.

The frame is the lightest I’ve ever ridden, you can definitely feel this on the climbs but it accelerates really well on the flats and yet somehow the vibrex dampening makes the road feel smooth so it’s a great allrounder.

I’m a Shimano man through and through but when I looked at the DA 9100/9150 I wasn't totally sure, but upon further inspection it is really stunning. The ride is fairly similar to older versions but the little things have changed like the shift/brake levers just feel spot on when climbing or just in the saddle, the power of the brake callipers is so much better, the shifting as ever is spot on  not yet played with the synchro shifting mind.

I’ve never ridden DT Swiss wheels before always been on Mavic, but now I a convert, really stiff hardly any flex at all and they are really light.
