Mike's SuperSix Single Speed

Mike's SuperSix Single Speed

Nick-named the Flying Tree Squirrel, this super-light mountain climbing bike was built to an eye-watering sub 5kg. Most of these pics show it built to take on the Haute Route 2014 Dolomites where Mike tackled famous climbs like the Passo Giau, Gavia and Stevlio.

Gear ratios were constantly tinkered. The 39x12 seen here amounted to 85.5 gear inches which proved to deliver too much torque and ultimate chain slip. For the Dolomites Mike opted for a 53x21 (66.3 gear inches)

The feather-light Bontrager tubs come in at 1,100gs.

"On a ratio of about 3% no body to catch me!"

Spec as seen. Sram S900 carbon bladed levers. Thomson Masterpiece seatpost, Tune Speedneedle saddle weighs just 83gs.

You couldn't get much lighter if you tried!
